              Daromná je chvála,
ktorou Boha vzývam,
márne všetky slová,
ak môj skutok chýba.
Ak zákony Jeho
sú len sluchu môjmu známe,
daromná je chvála!

Nadarmo mi svieti
slova Tvojho sláva,
márne žasnem nad ním,
ak sa nepoddávam.
Ak príkazom vyhnem sa
a po sľuboch len túžim,
nadarmo mi svieti!

Nedovoľ mi, Pane,
škodiť Tvojmu dielu,
využívať lásku,
zadarmo brať silu,
bez bázne a úžitku
tak do večnosti kráčať,
nedovoľ mi, Pane!
