Ott a Via Dolorosán, Jeruzsálem utcáján,
ahol Megváltóm a Golgotára ment,
tolongott a tömeg, s pribékek vonszolták
a vesztőhelyre.

Háta ütésektől vérzett, fején töviskorona,
minden lépés újabb kín és fájdalom.
A világ összes bűne nyomta vállát
a kereszt súlya alatt.

Ott a Via Dolorosán, a szenvedésnek útján,
ott járt némán s győztesen a Bárány,
felvette a keresztet, szeretett téged s engem.
Ott a Via Dolorosán hordozta a bűnünket.

S a tisztító vér, az engesztelés
  Jeruzsálem szívén át árad felénk.
