                Prečo mlčíš Pane,
  keď zloba ľudská život marí,
  prečo nezostane,
  pravdou tvoj súd?

Keď Ťa ako lotra zatýkali,
mohol si ich silou presvedčiť,
hoci Petra v dlani meč priam pálil,
predsa si mu zakázal sa biť?

Ty si musel trpieť v hrozných mukách,
pod údermi bičov ticho stáť,
vieš, čo môže spraviť ľudská ruka,
človek, ktorý pravdu nemá rád.

Poznáš dobre, čo je priazeň davu,
v tejto chvíli chce ti život vziať.
Včera on ti prevolával slávu,
dnes pre zmenu kričí: Križovať!

Aj dnes ešte kríž nad svetom stojí,
na tom kríži Ty si zomrel, viem.
V doráňanej tvári v očiach Tvojich
odpoveď na všetko čítať smiem.
