Il giorno che Gesù morì per noi
Il sole si oscurò nel mondo
Il sangue Suo bagnò la croce
Il Golgota stupì di tanto orror

Ai piedi del Signor la gente
Come uno spettacolo guardava
L'Agnel di Dio in croce
Atroce il Suo dolor

E lì ogni peccato del mondo
Ed ogni atrocità
Ogni ingiustizia, ogni crudeltà
Lui espiò morendo in croce
Col sangue Suo innocente al Calvario
Si fece beffeggiare, schernire, oltraggiare
Perché aveva un sol pensiero
Salvare il peccatore, il mondo
Donare la Sua vita eterna
