              Sírásodat hagyd nyugodtan abba,
a kapuk mögött visszaállt a rend,
ne sírj, oly lágyan jár a szél
Róma s a Via Appia felett!

Péter, ne sírj, mert Jézus megbocsát,
Péter, ne sírj, hisz tudod, hogy megbocsát!

Gyengeségünk néha úgy esik ránk,
mint kisgyermekre esik a félelem.
Gyengeségért mindig büntetés jár,
de büntetése nem sújt, felemel!

Reménytelen a bűn után az élet,
hogy mégis élsz, már alig hiszed el,
alig hiszed, hogy nem lett akkor vége,
csak egyet tudsz, a hulló könnyeket!
